Principals

Kat Gullahorn,Co-Founder

Kat Gullahorn began working with clay as a child in Santa Fe, NM. Her first collections showed up at Fishbone Gallery in 1993. She studied ceramics formally at The University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, taught ceramics at Albuquerque Academy, and worked with the NM FUSE wood-fire community for fifteen years. She is currently exploring lower temperatures in her GullyPots studio where she holds private classes.

She is a career librarian serving academic communities in central NM and is a statewide advocate for information access and intellectual freedom. She holds degrees in Linguistics and Sign Language Interpreting from the UNM and a Masters of Library Science from Texas Women’s University.

For many years she has dreamed of building an inspirational community space for ceramicists to create, network, and expand their knowledge with support to grow their unique brands into meaningful revenue. In the Spark studios, she teaches and creates for the joy of it with hopes to inspire a new generation of ceramic artists.

Amalia Giebitz, Co-Founder

Amalia has over 40 years experience in musical and theatre performance, and is a published author and editor. She has served on the boards of several performing arts and educational organizations in Albuquerque, and has over 25 years experience working with non-profit organizations in development, communications and strategic planning. As a former music and general education teacher, Amalia developed a strong background in curriculum development, needs-based assessment and inquiry-based instruction.

As the managing partner, she assesses client needs, coordinates training and services, and ensures client satisfaction and donor stewardship. She advises clients on critical issues that arise when doing business as artists. Amalia has a Bachelor’s degree in Cultural Studies with a concentration in professional writing, a Teaching Certificate from Central New Mexico Community college, and will complete her Master of Arts in Leadership and Cultural Management from Colorado State University in May 2022.

Stephen Morris,
Co-Founder

Stephen Morris has been a practicing artist since childhood and has been involved in local arts-based businesses for the last ten years. He is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in Art Studio from the University of New Mexico, as well as contributing to community-building processes involving the empowerment of junior youth, and enhancing the devotional life of neighborhoods.

In addition to his work in the arts, Stephen is an experienced Director of Operations with a demonstrated history of working in the computer software industry. He is a strong operations professional with a Masters of Engineering focused in Computer Engineering from the University of Louisville, and a retired major from the United States Air Force.
